Bluefly, an online retailer of designer brands, announced on Thursday that Melissa Payner-Gregor has assumed the additional title of ceo and will continue to serve as the company's president.
She succeeds Ken Seiff, who has decided to resign. Seiff has served as the company's chairman and ceo since its inception in April 1991. He also is stepping down from his role as a director of the company, but will be employed as a strategic advisor.
In addition, Alan Kane, a professor of retailing at the Columbia University Graduate School of business and a Bluefly board member, has been appointed chairman.
Payner-Gregor has served as the company's president since September 2003. Before joining the online company, she held senior management positions with several retailers, including ceo and president of Spiegel Catalog and president of Chico's FAS.
