Cost-U-Less August comps up 2.3%, below year-ago pace

Cost-U-Less Inc. said Wednesday that comps for the four weeks ended Aug. 21 rose 2.3%, lower than last year's increase of 12.9%.
Total sales for the period rose to $16.2 million from $16.1 million a year ago.
For the year-to-date period, comps rose 5.3%, down from a 14.9% increase a year ago. Total sales for the year to date rose to $137.8 million from $132.7 million a year ago.
The company operates 11 stores, located mostly in island communities.
