Panasonic picks fight with Energizer bunny
By Laura Heller, DSN Retailing Today
Tuesday, June 6, 2006

Panasonic Batteries continues its quest to kill its competition, kicking off a campaign that encourages consumers to “neuter their bunnies.”

Under the guise of an education effort, Panasonic launched Neuter Your Bunny to build awareness for the health benefits of neutering bunnies and the performance benefits of using Oxyride batteries.

Panasonic has dubbed June 14 “Neuter Your Bunny Day,” and is observing it with free services for select owners at the Center for Avian and Exotic Medicine in Manhattan, courtesy of Oxyride batteries. On this day, Panasonic Oxyride also will present the House Rabbit Society with a check for $10,000 to support the cause.

Of course the cause is to neutralize Energizer and its famous bunny.

“We hope to raise awareness for the health benefits of bunny neutering and the performance benefits of using Panasonic Oxyride batteries,” said Brian Kimberlin, director, consumer marketing, Panasonic Battery Corp. “When using Oxyride batteries in your digital camera, bunny owners can take twice as many pictures of their pets than they could with Energizer Max.”
