Pulte named to Fortune “Global 500” list

Pulte Homes, the Bloomfield Hills, Mich.-based home builder, has been named for the first time to the Fortune “Global 500” list of the world's largest companies.

The company debuted at number 455 on the list. Pulte also moved up the U.S. Fortune 500 list, ranked at number 147 this year, from 181 in 2005.

Pulte is the highest ranked home builder in the U.S., followed by Lennar (161), DR Horton (162) and Centex (175), according to Fortune.

Pulte was also ranked 49th on the Global 500 list for highest return on assets. Overall, the home building industry ranked third for return on assets and fourth for change in revenues on the Global 500 list.

Pulte Homes has operations in 53 markets and 27 states. In 2005, the company delivered 45,630 homes in the United States and reported revenues of $14.7 billion.
