Design Within Reach names new CFO

Design Within Reach (DWR) has named John Hellmann the company's new CFO, effective Sept. 5.
Hellmann has served as CFO of several public companies, including Birkenstock Distribution, Shoe Pavilion, Lamaur Corporation and Inmar Corporation.
"We are excited and fortunate to have John join the executive management team at Design Within Reach," said Ray Brunner, president and CEO of DWR.
DWR's current CFO, Ken La Honta announced last week he will leave the San Francisco-based home decor and furniture retailer.
In May, the company reported a decrease in sales and earnings for the first quarter, including a $4.2 million net loss, compared with net earnings of $900,000 in the first quarter period last year.
DWR is a multi-channel retailer of modern design furnishings and accessories. The company sells items through its catalog, studios, Web site and direct sales team.
