Wal-Mart Sales May Predict Super-Bowl Win
Chain Store Age
Friday, January 26, 2007

|
Wal-Mart Stores has provided its first update regarding sales of the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts licensed merchandise and the news gives the Bears a slight lead. The news is significant because for the last three out of four years, Wal-Mart customers have forecasted the outcome of the Super Bowl by purchasing more of the winning team's licensed T-shirts prior to game time.
The two teams will face off against one another on Feb. 3 at the Super Bowl. Wal-Mart will provide a "pre-game" update (Fri., Feb. 2) and a final "score" on Mon., Feb. 5, to see if customer trends continue to predict the game's outcome.
