Sport Chalet Releases 3Q Results, Store Opening Plans

Sport Chalet, Inc. announced Tuesday that it plans to open three to four stores during 2008. According to the sporting-goods specialty retailer, the new stores will be focused on adding density to current markets, primarily California and Arizona.

The company also said on Tuesday that sales for its third quarter, ended Dec. 30, increased 1.6% to $116.6 million from $114.7 million last year.

Same-store sales for the quarter decreased 6.9%. Nine-month results showed sales increases of 5.3% to $305.8 million from $290.4 million. Same-store sales on a same day basis decreased 3.0% for the nine-month period.
